App Development for PT

The Hacksauce team are specialists in public transport and public transit apps! We LOVE public transport! We even work in public transport and some of us even take long journeys just to catch a train overnight.

Watching vehicles go around the network is one of our hobbies and analysing the data behind the movements is another.

Ken Tsang aka jxeeno has developed which in the office we can watch for minutes and then hours as the buses, trains, trams and ferries move around. Personally I love the PID (passenger information display) view in AnyTrip – which also even provides me with an audio run through of the stations the train will stop at. (And the PID / departure board is also available the other transport modes too!) AnyTrip is available for NSW, Melbourne, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and even Auckland, New Zealand.

Jayen Ashar has been instrumental in the TripGo (and derivatives) products. TripGo is an internationally award winning journey planning product and leaders in the MaaS (Mobility as a Service) movement.

Yvonne Lee has been the Product Manager for the official Transport for NSW trip planning app, Opal Travel. She’s also been the lead for all Transport for NSW 3rd party apps such as Tripview, NextThere, TripGo, Citymapper, Transit, Moovit etc. She’s passionate about providing an effective solution for customers’ needs.

Richard Tubb is known as the ‘father’ of GovHack – the largest data hackathon in the world and has run over 40 concurrent hackathons across Australia and New Zealand. He also has been leading innovation for Transport for NSW and supports app developers in creating amazing digital products for the customers of NSW.

Together, with help from some other friends when required, the Hacksauce team have a deep understanding of public transport, data, apps, government processes, digital and customer experience.

This post was written as we have submitted a tender submission to develop “Myki Travel” (our nickname for the app) for PTV. You can check out a bit more via
